The Health, Housing, & Economic Stability Practice Group assists clients in Cook and DuPage Counties.
The Health, Housing, & Economic Stability (HHES) team is committed to ensuring that community members facing eviction, living in substandard housing conditions, and/or being unfairly treated by landlords or property managers do not fall through the cracks. Staff provide critical housing advocacy and support to tenants and assist them in navigating their housing crises. Additionally, the team engages in community education on landlord/tenant issues.
How We Help
The HHES team provides services for tenants living in subsidized housing buildings, private buildings and homes, and those with Housing Choice Vouchers.
Eviction Matters
HHES staff assist tenants facing eviction by providing legal representation in court for eviction defense. Staff also assist clients at risk of eviction by helping negotiate with landlords and opposing counsels to reach settlement agreements. The team also assists with sealing of past eviction records.
Housing Preservation
HHES staff represent clients residing in subsidized housing or holding housing vouchers who are at risk of losing their subsidized eligibility. Staff work to resolve issues between landlords and tenants, reach settlement agreements, and provide representation in court when needed.
