The Communities Partnering 4 Peace Justice Corps is the legal aid arm of Metropolitan Peace Initiatives.
A division of Metropolitan Family Services, Metropolitan Peace Initiatives (MPI) partners with community-based and citywide organizations to help heal Chicago’s communities experiencing the highest levels of gun violence. The Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) Justice Corps provides free, neighborhood-based civil legal services in support of these organizations.
How We Help
The Justice Corps serves participants of CP4P’s Community Partner Organizations.
Services are free and confidential, client-centered, culturally sensitive, and bilingual (English and Spanish). Staff provide onsite monthly legal clinics for organizations. Each clinic includes a community education component followed by individual client appointments and general office hours for walk-ins.
The Justice Corps offers participants and staff the opportunity to move past the legal issues and barriers holding them back from success. Staff assist with criminal records expungement/sealing (including cannabis offenses), employment issues, housing, public benefits, crime victim services, human trafficking, immigration, elder law, and domestic violence.
