Intake Information
How Do I Apply For Legal Services?
You can apply for LAS legal services by phone or by filling out an online application.
By Phone
You can apply for LAS legal services by calling our intake line at (312) 986-4105. Our intake line is open for “live” calls Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Our intake specialists answer “live” calls on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are unable to reach an intake specialist and are transferred to our voicemail, please leave your name, phone number, a brief description of your legal issues, the best times to reach you, and an intake specialist will call you at their earliest convenience. Interpretation/translation services are available.
If your case is in court, it helps to have any case information readily available when talking to an intake specialist. This includes the names of the parties involved, case number, next court date, and the courthouse where the case is pending. It is also helpful to have a pen and paper ready in case you need to write down information.
NOTE: Due to the high volume of calls, it is likely that you will have to leave a voicemail on our intake line. Leaving a voicemail will get you on our intake specialist call queue. If you do not leave a voicemail, you will not get a call back from an intake specialist, so please leave a message.
Online Application
You can also apply for LAS legal services by filling out the online application managed by Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO). Please click here to apply for legal aid services: https://www.illinoislegalaid.org/get-legal-help
ILAO provides an online application program which provides referrals to local legal aid organizations based on the legal issue presented, location, and services sought.
NOTE: After filling out the online application, you may be referred to LAS or other local legal aid organizations.
